How to use this solver

Use this page as a 5-letter word solver, 5-letter word finder, or Wordle helper. Enter known letters in the boxes, then add letters that must be included or excluded. Results update automatically and can be shared with a link.

What the inputs mean

The 5 boxes represent the exact letter positions. If you know the 1st and 5th letters, fill those in and leave the others blank. Use Include letters for letters you know are in the word somewhere (any position). Use Exclude letters for letters you know are not in the word at all.

Examples

If you have S _ A _ E, type S in the first box, A in the third, and E in the fifth. If you also know the word contains R, put r in Include. If you know it does not contain t, n, or l, put tnl in Exclude.

Wordle tips

If your results list is huge, add one more constraint: another known position, one more include letter, or exclude letters from gray tiles. If you get zero results, double-check that a letter isn’t in the wrong position and that your include/exclude letters don’t contradict each other.

Tip: if you know multiple letter positions, the solver above is faster than browsing lists.

About this solver

This page filters two word lists: a smaller answer list and a broader allowed list. The results shown are the union of both lists, deduplicated and sorted. The solver only matches 5-letter words.

FAQ

What is a 5-letter word solver?

A 5-letter word solver helps you narrow possible words when you know some letters already. This one lets you set exact positions, required letters, and excluded letters to filter matches quickly.

Can I use this as a 5-letter word finder for Wordle?

Yes. If you know green-letter positions, place them in the boxes. If you know yellow letters belong somewhere in the word, add them to Include. If you know gray letters should be removed, add them to Exclude.

What is the difference between this solver and browsing word lists?

Word lists are useful when you know one broad pattern, like a starting letter or ending. The solver is faster when you know several clues at once and want to narrow them in a single search.
